Focus 2: The choices of declared and elected candidates
This area covers a range of projects based on the choices made by declared candidates and elected representatives at the municipal level. In addition, this area of focus will pursue the following three objectives:
- Identify ways of “campaigning” according to the type of candidate, the size of the municipality and the nature of the platform and discourse that is put forward.
- Understand how political platforms (or, at times, the mere declarations of conviction) are constructed and put forward, by both candidates and elected representatives.
- Identify the strategies used by elected officials to implement their platforms, possible depoliticization strategies, etc.
